Mike Smith is Senior Counsel in the firm’s Cheyenne office. He is a member of the firm’s Energy Projects practice group. His practice focuses on energy project development on federal lands, including National Environmental Policy Act compliance, and representing clients before local, state, Tribal, and federal regulatory agencies. Mike’s expertise also encompasses government affairs and appellate work.

Mike graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming School of Law in 1999 where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. After a clerkship with Judge Wade Brorby of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, Mike had a litigation practice for seven years and then worked for an oil and gas company for twelve years on policy, permitting and surface use issues.
