On August 20 and 21, 2015, Crowley Fleck attorneys Jared Le Fevre, Ben Hursh, Eli Patten, and Brad Sweat participated in the State Bar of Montana Bankruptcy Section annual meeting and seminar. The seminar was chaired and conducted by Ben Hursh and Eli Patten. Jared Le Fevre presented a paper entitled on the subject of federal and state tax liens and bankruptcy discharge of tax liability entitled “How the IRS Uses Tax Liens Like it is Wielding the Hammer of the Gods, and Exiting Bankruptcy Free from the IRS.” Mr. Le Fevre also spoke to attorneys on the subject of tax liens and bankruptcy discharge along with a panel of along with a panel of Montana Department of Revenue attorneys and debtor’s counsel. Crowley Fleck attorney Brad Sweat was selected as Treasurer elect of the Bankruptcy Section and will serve as Treasurer of the Section in 2016.
Jared Le Fevre is a Partner and a member of the firm’s Tax, Trusts and Estates and Creditors’ Rights Practice groups. Mr. Le Fevre represents clients in audit and tax controversies before the IRS and state taxing authorities and with creditors’ rights matters. Ben Hursh is a Partner and co-chair of the Creditors’ Rights Practice Group. Mr. Hursh represents banks, financial institutions and creditors with a wide range of matters. Eli Patten is an associate and is a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights Practice Group. Mr. Patten represents creditors in collection and bankruptcy matters. Brad Sweat is an associate and a member of the firm’s Creditors Rights Practice Group. Mr. Sweat primarily practices in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and foreclosure and debt collection proceedings.
