Amy M. Oster is a Partner in the Bismarck office and serves as co-chair of the Employment Practice Group. Her practice is dedicated to helping employers with labor and employment issues, including discrimination and harassment, family and medical leave, wage and hour, hiring and termination, and workers’ compensation. She frequently represents employers in proceedings before the North Dakota Department of Labor, federal agencies, and state and federal courts. Amy also helps employers implement proactive practices, such as personnel policies and handbooks. In addition to her employment practice, Amy defends clients in civil litigation, including natural resources and tort litigation. Amy’s practice also includes municipal work, and she serves as the Mandan City Attorney.
Amy is a contributing author to the American Bar Association Consumer Protection Law Developments. She is also the author of the North Dakota section of the Open Government Guide, a compendium of information on each state’s open records and open meetings laws, published by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. Amy serves on the advisory board for Stepping Stone Ministries, a nonprofit organization which provides medical respite to those experiencing homelessness.
Amy finds great fulfillment in her work, where she’s dedicated to empowering her clients to overcome challenges and achieve their goals in the workplace. She has been at the firm for more than 14 years, and represents Crowley Fleck as the North Dakota member of the Employment Law Alliance, which connects her to a vast network of attorneys providing employment and labor expertise not only throughout the United States but also around the world.
Prior to joining the firm, Amy completed a one-year clerkship for the Honorable Dale V. Sandstrom, Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Outside of her practice, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, as well as reading and traveling.
