Greg Dorrington is a Partner in the Helena office with more than 15 years of experience helping companies and businesses in highly regulated industries navigate evolving environmental and immigration issues. Throughout his career, Greg has found a strong connection between his environmental and immigration work, as both require navigating intricate regulatory landscapes to deliver impactful results for his clients.
On the environmental side, Greg is a member of the Energy and Environmental Practice Group. He primarily works in renewable energy and helps clients secure permits and authorizations from state, local, and federal agencies to advance their projects. He also provides environmental and permitting support for commercial transactions, often involving renewable projects, where he conducts environmental and permitting due diligence and assists with developing legal opinions issued by the firm.
In addition to his energy work, Greg is deeply involved in environmental and natural resources law, advising and assisting clients with permitting matters, environmental cleanup and remediation, environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and government affairs.
Greg also has a significant immigration practice. He typically works with businesses providing a full suite of services including visa petitions, consular processing, labor certification, permanent residence/green card applications, waivers, and I-9 compliance. Greg helps various industries, including health care, manufacturing, mining, hospitality, agricultural, and educational institutions with their immigration needs. His immigration practice, in particular, enables Greg to support businesses and communities in Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming by helping them secure the workers they rely on.
Greg also assists individuals, families, and those seeking U.S. citizenship. His practice occasionally includes humanitarian relief, providing assistance to those impacted by global events, such as Ukrainian individuals affected by the ongoing war. Greg routinely presents on immigration issues and he previously served on the Government Relations Committee of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Asia-Pacific Chapter, which liaises with U.S. Missions abroad.
In his free time, Greg enjoys all things outdoors, including trail running, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fly fishing, rafting, and skiing. He also coaches soccer and plays golf.
