Peter Liffrig is an Associate in Crowley Fleck’s Commercial Transactions Practice Group and also handles commercial litigation matters. His practice focuses on helping businesses and individuals navigate legal issues arising in the course of doing business, from routine transactional matters to more complex disputes.
Peter takes a practical, client-centered approach to legal work. He believes effective representation begins with listening carefully to understand what a client actually needs—not simply what the client initially believes the legal solution may be. Whenever possible, Peter looks for straightforward, efficient ways to resolve a problem, including advising clients when a simpler solution can accomplish their goals without unnecessary legal work.
Peter developed an interest in business counseling while working as a student attorney in his law school’s entrepreneurship clinic, where he assisted small businesses with legal matters. He also gained valuable experience clerking for Justice Jerod Tufte of the North Dakota Supreme Court and working with the Nebraska Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Unit while in law school.
His perspective as an attorney is further informed by an unusually varied professional background. Before entering the legal profession, Peter worked as a high school teacher, land surveyor, and medical equipment salesman. These experiences exposed him to different industries, workplaces, and professional challenges, and they contribute to the practical perspective he brings to representing business clients.
Born and raised in North Dakota, Peter followed in his father’s footsteps, who was also an attorney. Watching his father practice law helped inspire Peter to pursue the profession himself. His goal is to provide clients with responsive, competent, high-value legal services, emphasizing practical results delivered efficiently and confidently.
Peter also has a longstanding interest in classical education. He studied Latin and Greek in college and is proficient in French. He has volunteered to help establish a classical curriculum school in Mandan and continues to study classical philosophy and literature.
Outside the office, Peter enjoys spending time with his family, singing in the church choir, competing in triathlons, lifting weights, and helping run his family’s beef cattle ranch.
