Matthew F. (Matt) McLean is Senior Counsel in the Bozeman office. Matt has been practicing law for nearly thirty years with an emphasis and focus on construction law and he handles matters throughout Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. Matt advises clients on all aspects of the construction process and regularly works with clients involved in large-scale, high-value development projects, commercial construction projects, public works projects, and large and small residential construction projects. Matt has extensive experience negotiating and drafting design and construction contracts involving a broad range of project delivery methodologies, from the traditional design-build-bid process to design-build, construction management, and EPC contracts. Matt also regularly consults with clients during the course of construction regarding issues that arise as a project progresses. Matt also represents clients in post-project disputes in state and federal courts as well as private arbitration proceedings.
Matt received his J.D. with Honors from the University of Wyoming College of Law where he was also a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Beta Kappa. He has earned an AV Preeminent Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ and was named the Best Lawyers in America®, “Lawyer of the Year,” for litigation and construction in 2022. He is a member of the Construction Lawyers Society of America and his extensive construction experience has allowed him to build relationships with other construction lawyers around the country.
