Zachary R. Eiken is a Partner in the Bismarck office and a member of the Commercial and Natural Resources Litigation Practice Group. Zach’s practice focuses on litigation in North Dakota’s state and federal courts involving all aspects of the state’s energy sector.  His representative matters include defending class actions concerning oil and gas royalties, disputes between working interests owners, mineral and leasehold title disputes, appeals from North Dakota agency decisions, administrative suits against the federal government, infrastructure development, and numerous other high-value cases involving the energy industry. His practice involves regular appearances before the North Dakota Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Zach was born and raised in Williston. Zach received his B.A. in history, with a minor in economics, from the University of North Dakota. Zach also received his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the North Dakota Law Review.  Prior to joining the firm, Zach clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle of the North Dakota Supreme Court and the Honorable Charles Miller, Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota.  Before he went to law school, Zach spent his college summers as a landman traveling the county courthouses of western North Dakota

Zach lives in Bismarck with his wife Krista and their two German Shepherds.
