Dennis Stock is an Associate in Crowley Fleck’s Labor & Employment and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups. He approaches his practice as a problem solver, helping clients make sense of complicated legal issues, identify the information that matters, and determine the most sensible path forward.
Diligence and preparation are central to Dennis’ legal practice. He understands that legal disputes rarely have simple answers and that clients may face uncertainty, competing interpretations, and difficult negotiations. Dennis works to understand the complete picture behind a matter so he can provide thoughtful guidance and advocate effectively for his clients.
Dennis particularly enjoys litigation because of its variety. His work can involve everything from researching unfamiliar legal questions and analyzing complex facts to drafting briefs, communicating with clients, and developing strategies for resolving disputes. He appreciates that each matter presents a different challenge and an opportunity to find a solution.
His varied background also shapes the way he works with clients and approaches problems. Originally from Logan, Utah, Dennis has traveled nearly the entire United States and serves in the Army National Guard. His experiences in different places, professions, and communities have given him an appreciation for different perspectives and the importance of communicating effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
While attending the University of Montana’s Alexander Blewett III School of Law, Dennis was a top student and a member of the Montana Law Review. While studying, he authored a comment entitled, “Cracked Doors, Open Questions: Does State v. Thompson Threaten Montana’s Privacy Tradition?” He also gained practical advocacy experience through his clinic at the Missoula Public Defender’s Office. During his third year, Dennis drafted a dispositive motion that resulted in the dismissal of two burglary charges against a clinic client—an experience that reinforced the importance of thorough research, careful writing, and preparation.
In addition to his legal expertise, Dennis has been writing professionally for nearly his entire career. He first worked as a news reporter for Utah Public Radio, where he wrote and voiced over fifty news broadcasts. Dennis has also contributed to the Utah Statesman.
Dennis believes that meaningful progress often comes through small improvements. Whether working with clients or in his personal life, he values finding ways to make circumstances a little better than they were before.
Outside the office, Dennis enjoys backpacking, hiking in the mountains, floating rivers, kayaking, boxing, reading, and walking. He also speaks conversational Spanish.
